If you're leaving the European Union and also live outside the EU, you can get a refund of value-added tax on goods purchased within the EU. In order to obtain your refund, a confirmation of export ("Ausfuhrbestätigung") is needed, which can be obtained get from customs the customs office at Frankfurt Airport. After passport control, simply hand in your export confirmation at Global Refunds and receive a cash refund for the sales tax, minus a small fee.

Tip Please ensure that the following information is clearly legible on the export papers (Global Refund Shopping Cheques) or the original shop receipt: the sales tax amount, your address and passport number and the exact description of the goods. The customs office responsible depends on whether you're carrying the goods in your checked baggage or in your hand-baggage, and the procedures are different!

Carrying the goods in your checked baggage? Please check-in your bags at your airline's check-in desk as usual. Tell the airline representative that you have goods in your baggage for which you need a confirmation of export from customs. The bag will then be returned to you for customs. Depending on where you check in, you can go to one of the following customs offices: |

In Terminal 1: Departure hall B, level 2 (near counter 643), during the night in baggage claim area B (9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.). In Terminal 2: Opposite the check-in counters in hall D and E, near the exits. |

Once you have your customs stamp, your baggage will be loaded onto the aircraft. On the way to your gate, you will receive your refund after passport contol at the Global Refunds counter. More Information is available on the Global Refunds website or by calling (+49) 69 - 695 908 03 |
