AIRail Service to Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn and Stuttgart
The AIRail Service is a trendsetting intermodal product offered jointly by the AIRail partners, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Deutsche Bahn AG, and Fraport AG.
Seamless Transfer Between the Train and Plane
Travelers holding a Lufthansa AIRail ticket can check in -- up to 15 minutes before train departure -- at the central stations of Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn, or Stuttgart to get the boarding pass for their train ride as well as the onward flight from Frankfurt Airport (FRA). Baggage items remain with the travelers. Upon arrival at FRA’s Long-distance Train Station, AIRail passengers can drop off their flight baggage immediately at the “Baggage check-in at the AIRail Terminal”. Baggage is checked through to the final flight destination. The integrated AIRail Terminal is located between FRA’s Long-distance Train Station and Terminal 1.
AIRail passengers arriving at FRA from a flight and traveling onward by train to Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart can claim their flight baggage and immediately go through customs inspection in the AIRail Terminal – before catching their train.
Service Frequencies and Travel Times
Travel time between Cologne central station and FRA’s Long-distance Train Station is only 57 minutes. Travel time to Siegburg/Bonn is 40 minutes and to Stuttgart 73 minutes. With 12 daily ICE train connections from Cologne via Siegburg/Bonn and 5 daily connections to Stuttgart, there is a well-timed feeder service for practically every international Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt Airport.
All AIRail passengers have reserved seats on the ICE train. If they are flying first or business class, they travel first class on the ICE train. If they are flying economy class, then they travel second class on the ICE train.
Lufthansa’s first or business-class passengers, HON Circle members or LH Senators also have access to the DB Lounges at the Cologne and Stuttgart central stations as well as at FRA’s Long-distance Train Station.
