Baggage Control

Safety comes first, also for baggage.

Safety calls for rules and uncompromising thoroughness in applying them so that nothing can slip through gaps in the checks. This has been ensured since 2002 by a new EU directive. Additional x-ray machines before the check-in counters are used to visually inspect the contents of luggage.  For your own safety, make sure to be at the airport in plenty of time to pass through all of the checks.

You should close and lock your suitcase as usual; however, we strongly advise you not to use padlocks on your baggage.

Here is a list of items not allowed on board. It will give you some bearings what items you may carry in your hand luggage or hold baggage.

Tips to avoid problems

Before starting your trip:

  • Leave the (possibly) prohibited item at home
  • Ask your airline before starting your trip whether the item in question is allowed on board.  We advise you to get a written confirmation from the airline.

When you have already started your trip:

  • If your car is parked at the airport, take the prohibited item back to your car.
  • If somebody dropped you off, give the prohibited item to the person dropping you off.
  • Or hand the prohibited item over to the screening staff and relinquish ownership.
