The currency checks when passing through customs are not
intended to cause you any inconvenience, but to prevent money
from illegal transactions and criminal activities from being brought
into the country. If you are carrying cash or cash equivalents worth
10,000 euros or more, you are therefore required to report it to
the customs officials. This includes valuables such as checks, letters
of credit, precious metals and jewelry.
