It takes strict rules to prevent many endangered plant
and animal species from dying out completely. Worldwide.
CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered
Species of Fauna and Flora) therefore specifies exactly
which protected plants and animals may not be carried.
Generally speaking, these may not be imported at all,
or only if certain conditions are met. Violators are rigorously
prosecuted and usually sentenced to severe penalties. You
