Cargo volume climbs further.
Frankfurt Airport's (FRA) cargo (airfreight and airmail) tonnage is benefiting from continued expansion of the global economy and noticeable capacity increases in airfreight traffic. Exceeding the 2 million metric ton mark already in 2006, FRA ranks among the top cargo airports both in Europe and worldwide. With a 45.5 percent share, the Far East features as FRA’s most important market -- followed by North America with 21.4 percent and Europe with 12.7 percent.
Cargo volume will continue to climb unabatedly in the coming years and is forecast to reach 3.18 million metric tons in 2020.
